Last week 24 year 9 and 10 students attended the RDA Hunter ME program and Lockheed Martin Technology Expo at Williamtown organised to coincide with the arrival of the first two of Australia's fleet of 72 $100 million F-35A Joint Strike Fighter planes, after 16 years of development and testing.
Students had the opportunity to walk through informative and interactive displays and to experience the simulator, where students flew a plane in and out of Williamtown and over the surrounding area identifying familiar landmarks.
Students chatted with many engineers, pilots and personnel on hand from Lockheed Martin, BAE systems, Boeing, Varley, University of Newcastle and Department of Defence about the future of innovation and expansion and development of technologies in the region. All staff were really enthused by the interest and energy of the students who attended.
