Flying high with future careers

Friday 28th June, 19 students from the year 9 & 10 iSTEM classes attended an Aerospace Careers Day, attended by a number of schools. We toured the BAE systems hangar at Williamtown where we inspected engines, wings, cockpits, jet canopies and ejector seats from jet fighters in various stages of repair.

At the close of the morning we were treated to an air show from four recently graduated jet fighter pilots from Williamtown base - flying in formation directly overhead. This exciting morning allowed us to build up an appetite and after a lunch at Mercure, we listened to representatives from Newcastle Airport, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Jetstar and Australian Defence outlining the future of the burgeoning STEM industries, and associated careers, in the Hunter region.

San Clemente students were treated to an inspiring and thought provoking day hosted by the RDA Hunter ME program.
