Carol Dweck is renowned for her work on two possible mindsets a person can adopt when responding to a challenge - a Fixed Mindset or a Growth Mindset. The word "yet" is often associated with approaching a challenge with a growth mind-set. We are all on a learning journey and when we may not have mastered a concept or skill Dweck would use the word "yet."
When we adopt a growth mind-set there is always room for improvement. A growth-mindset is what we encourage our learners at San Clemente to adopt. We are all on a learning trajectory, it is how we respond that will determine our path forward. Learning at San Clemente hinges on students responding to teacher feedback with a growth - mindset response.
