ASPIRE

ASPIRE is a diocesan program of excellence for students in the performing arts arena. Students audition in November each year for a place in the vocal ensemble, instrumental ensemble, drama ensemble and dance ensemble. Those who are selected attend weekly rehearsals in Semester 1 to prepare for a showcase in August each year.

DioSounds

DioSounds is an annual event held at the Civic Theatre. It showcases the talents of the students and programs on offer at schools throughout the diocese. Each year, approximately 100 students from San Clemente performing arts program are selected to perform in the showcase.

Sport

San Clemente aims to provide students with a wide array of sporting activities and opportunities. Sporting pursuits play a fundamental role in creating well-rounded young adults. Students will learn hard work, sportsmanship, commitment and dedication which will benefit their performance both on the sporting field and in the classroom.

Creative &

Performing Arts

The San Clemente Creative and Performing Arts programs on offer reflect our view that the Arts are an integral aspect of whole school curriculum. Through participation and study in Arts areas such as Music, Drama and Visual Arts, we provide students with unique opportunities to create, reflect, challenge, respond, critique, present, and celebrate across a range of media and contexts.

Sight & Sound Exhibition

The Sight & Sound exhibition takes place in the last term of the school year and is an excellent opportunity for students to showcase and speak to their pieces.

Drama Night at the Playhouse

Drama Night at the Playhouse is the highlight of the year featuring highly polished scenes from Year 9 and 10 classwork. The students hard work throughout the year moves onto stage creating an excellent evening enjoyed by many.

Theatre-Sports Competition

The Theatre Sports Competition has been running in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle for over 20 years and is open to elective drama students from Years 9-11. Students participate in improvisation games and exercises. Teams are scored on various facets of their performance including entertainment value, their ability to create and sustain a plot and their technical skills.

In 2023 San Clemente’s mixed junior team came away with 2nd place in the Year 9 category.

Debating

Students at San Clemente compete in the Diocesan Debating competition, a pathway to the NSW Catholic Schools Debating Championships. In recent years, the school has proudly won both a NSW Debating title and a NSW Country title.
