Welcome to San Clemente
We endeavour to foster in our students a strong sense of compassion and respect so they are able to contribute positively to the world in which they live.
San Clemente
Welcome to our School,
We are a 7 to 10 Catholic, coeducational systemic school in the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese, consisting of 720 students.
San Clemente was founded as a day and boarding school for girls by a group of Dominican Sisters in 1916. The Dominican Order has a rich history dating back to the 13th Century, known for their love of God and search for truth, justice, and compassion for others, particularly those in need. Our Catholic faith values are central to everything we do and we strive to uphold the traditions of the Dominican Sisters. The School’s motto is ‘Veritas’ (Truth) and our students are encouraged to embrace this by being true to themselves and one another.
San Clemente prides itself on being a diverse, multicultural school with students and families from a wide range of backgrounds. It seeks to provide many opportunities for our students while recognising that each individual is unique with different talents and strengths. We endeavour to foster in our students a strong sense of compassion and respect so they are able to contribute positively to the world in which they live.
San Clemente is a Positive Education School which prioritises the well-being of its entire community. There are pastoral care structures in place that enable students to gain vital skills so they can thrive in life. In developing as confident, resilient and self-aware individuals, they are well placed to benefit from the School’s strong academic curriculum. Staff regularly engage in professional development and reflect on their teaching practices, so they can provide engaging, contemporary pedagogy in this modern age of technology.
San Clemente is renowned for its strong spirit and sense of community. Quality relationships are evident amongst its students, staff and families. The School is acutely aware that parents are the primary educators of their children and it values the critical partnership between family and school. I trust you find our website both helpful and informative but also acknowledge that it is difficult to convey the inner soul of our community within its contents. I encourage you to visit us in person if you would like to learn more about our school.
